DEVICE SETUP
2018 | Lead UX & UI | AT&T | Android TV
This was an end to end exercise of adapting a overly complex experience of setting up new devices within an old technology architecture. It had to be customer facing, the back-end was meant for trained specialists only and designed by engineers.
We started by identifying a personas and identified ideal setups and unboxing narratives from analogous products like Google Mesh.
The narrative was going to be key, we worked very close with the copywriters to establish a non-technical terminology for the complicated system in question.
I then directed the Motion team to bring the flow to life. We developed an approach where we used a lean-back explanation video to replace a complex series of instructions. The video introduced a new ‘tool’ for our department.
